Lynchburg Police in search of man in vape shop shooting

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WDBJ) – The Lynchburg Police Department is in search of a man allegedly involved in a vape shop shooting.

Police responded to a reported shooting at LB Tobacco and Vape Shop on Forest Brook Road in Lynchburg Saturday, May 25, at 2:58 p.m.

An 18-year-old male was transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to Lynchburg Police.

During the initial investigation, police determined that the suspect and victim knew each other, and appeared to have a verbal altercation, leading to the shooting.

Police identified the suspect as 23-year-old Savon Lavay Ellis who is wanted on multiple charges including,

  • Malicious Wounding
  • Use of Firearm in the Commission of a Felony
  • Reckless Handling of a Firearm
  • Discharge a Firearm in the City
  • Shooting in a Public Place Causing Injury
  • Possession of a Concealed Weapon

Police say this appears to be an isolated incident with no danger to the public.
