7 Pounds Of Illegal Marijuana Seized At Norwalk Vape Shop: Police


NORWALK, CT — Two men are facing charges after authorities seized 7 pounds of illegal marijuana from a Norwalk vape shop, according to police. The seizure was part of an ongoing investigation into non-licensed smoke shops in the city.

On Thursday, Norwalk police and state authorities executed a search warrant at Smoke House 1 vape shop, located at 108 Connecticut Ave. According to police, the business was not licensed to sell cannabis products above the state’s legal limit.

During the search, authorities seized several hundred products containing THC above the legal level in addition to the marijuana. Police also seized $1,200 in U.S. currency.

Following the raid, police arrested and charged Nusrat Shaika, 20, and MD Shohidul Joy, 19, both of New York City. Both face several drug-related counts including possession with intent to sell 1 kilogram or more of cannabis.

Bond was set at $50,000 for both men, who are scheduled to appear in court on April 26.
