The Newark Catholic Hall of Fame Inductee

A 2008 graduate of Newark Catholic High School, Mark played Football and ran Track for the Green Wave. He was RB/CB for the school’s most recent football State Championship in 2007 and helped lead the track team to the State Track Meet in 2008. Mark came to NC in his junior year after his family transferred from out of state. Despite being injured for most of the year, he rushed 1,161 yards in his junior football season. During his senior season, Mark set several single-season school records: Most Carries (363), Most Yards Gained (2,914), Most Touchdowns (41), and Most Points Scored (246). He was instrumental in the 2007 State Championship win and was named MVP, First-Team All-Ohio, All-Region, All-MSL, 2007 Newark Advocate Male Athlete of the Year, and was selected to play in the 2007 Licking County All-Star and North-South All-Star Games. He is the NCHS Football program’s Second All-Time Leading Scorer (348). Mark continued his football career at Ohio Dominican University, where he was redshirted his freshman year. He was a starting running back and kickoff returner for the Panthers for the 2012 and 2013 seasons. In four seasons, he totaled 3,068 total yards (1,999 rushing, 122 receiving, 947 returning). During his (redshirt) senior season, he was Second Team All-Ohio and All-Region, First Team All-GLIAC; he played in all 11 games at running back, led the team in rushing attempts (203), rushing yards (1,155) and rushing touchdowns (11); had six games with 100+ yards rushing, two games with 200+ all-purpose yards, and has a season-high 318 all-purpose yards against Findlay. He holds the school record for the longest kickoff return for a touchdown (95 yards). Mark was the type of athlete who worked tirelessly and would not stop until he accomplished his goal. He also could inspire his teammates to believe in achieving the end goal. Today, Mark and children Morgan (14), Myles (6), and Savannah (5) live in the Columbus area. He works for the city of Reynoldsburg as a Patrol Officer, where he protects and serves the citizens and community. In his free time, Mark enjoys spending time with family and friends, working out, and enjoying the outdoors.
