Lakewood Lancers baseball shuts out Hamilton Township

Tyler Bebout and Mason Sprankle combined on a one-hitter Saturday, pitching the Lakewood baseball team to a 2-0 victory at Hamilton Township in the season opener.

Bebout struck out eight in five no-hit innings, and Sprankle struck out two in earning the save. William Marrero and Cayden MacDonald each singled with one out in the first inning, and Peyton Tichenor’s two-out single drove them in for the Lancers.

Heights sweeps Newark

Miles Drake totaled a kill, five assists and five digs for Newark in a loss, 25-10, 25-7, 25-15, at Licking Heights (3-2).

Landon Caw added three assists and three digs and Adrian Taylor a kill and seven digs for the Wildcats (0-5).
