Johnstown, Northridge schools compete in food drive

The Johnstown-Monroe and Northridge school districts recently honored the winning community in its annual October food drive held last fall.

Johnstown was awarded the commemorative plaque during halftime of the varsity boys basketball game between the schools earlier this month. The school communities collected and donated more than 20,000 items to the Johnstown Northridge Food Pantry, which is located at the Johnstown Independent Baptist Church.

Northridge superintendent Scott Schmidt presents a plaque to Johnstown-Monroe superintendent Philip Wagner earlier this month commemorating Johnstown's victory in last fall's food drive.

The food was distributed to local families in need.
