First monkeypox case confirmed in state of Iowa


There is monkeypox in Iowa.The state Department of Health and Human Services just confirmed Friday night.There is a probable case of monkeypox in north central Iowa.The patient was likely infected during international travels and is isolating and receiving outpatient care. They are in regular communication with the health department.Monkeypox does not spread easily between people without close contact.
